A Letter from the Winemaker
Welcome to the world of "Axios Oinos".
Whether wine is truly made in the vineyard, the barrel, or simply in the mind of the one who dreams it, I know this for certain: every bottle we produce carries far more than just grapes. It carries time, silence, perseverance, and people. Our home, Naxos, is a challenging land. The wind, the stone, the drought, and the sea spray constantly test the vines—perhaps that is why Cycladic wines never learned to be "easy." They learned to have character, much like the Naxian emery, the legendary "iron-eating stone" that stands as a timeless symbol of our island's resilience. And I believe the same is true for its people.
At "Axios Oinos," we strive to give our land a voice. Through our vineyards, we bring to light our local varieties, our heritage, the soil that raised us, and the stories that refuse to be forgotten. Every label has a purpose. Every name hides an idea, connecting today with our history and the ancient Naxian merchant ships that once carried the island's "bliss" across the Mediterranean. Every harvest is a new conversation with nature, and every step we take is rooted in respect for the cycle of life.
We believe that wine is not a luxury item. Wine is a gathered table, a conversation, a fleeting moment that becomes a lasting memory. It is a way to share an "aromatic signature" so powerful that, according to the myth of Hercules and Pholus, it could captivate even the Centaurs. Perhaps that is why the greatest truths are always told with a glass of wine in hand.
